Frequently Asked Questions
We’re here to answer any questions that you might have about roof cleaning, roof restoration and repairs. You can refer to the frequently asked questions below, or give us a call on 0800 086 8544 for a chat about your roof.
- Will pressure washing my roof or walking over the tiles damage it?
Unlike less reputable companies, we use a special pressure washer which is different to the one you might use on your car or driveway. Furthermore, we adjust the pressure to suit the condition of the roof, rather than just blasting it on the highest setting. We also use cat ladders so that we don’t need to walk directly on the tiles themselves. We guarantee that your roof won’t be damaged in the process.
- Will my roof just get dirty again?
If you were to simply clean your roof with a pressure washer, the moss and lichen would return in 12 months time. However, we apply an anti-fungal treatment to the entire roof, which actually kills the organic compounds and stops them from re-growing. In addition to this, we also apply two coats of 100% acrylic, fungicidal quality, waterproof coating. This helps to seal the porous surface of the tiles and prevents moss, lichen and algae from both growing back and sticking to the surface of the roof in the future.
The RENOTEC® coating that we use is also backed by a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee. After 10 years, if your roof shows signs of becoming dirty again, we can perform a maintenance operation. This involves simply wiping the tiles down, and it will look as good as new again!
- Will the cleaning process make a mess of my property?
We’ll move your plant pots and garden furniture out of the way, and lay tarpaulins down to keep your property clean and tidy throughout.
- Will cleaning my roof cause my gutters to get blocked?
Downpipes will be disconnected so they don’t become blocked with debris. We’ll also clean out your gutters, and wipe down your fascias and soffits as part of the service! With a clean and protected roof, your gutters will be less likely to get blocked in the future.
- Can I see the roofs of your previous customers?
Of course! We’re more than happy to introduce you to previous customers in the local area, so you can chat with them about their experience. In many cases we can show you work that was carried out several years ago, so you can see first hand how well the roof in question has remained clean.
- How much will it cost to clean my roof?
This depends on the size of your roof. We’ll carry out a free, no-obligation survey and then provide a written quotation. There is absolutely no-obligation or pressure to proceed unless you’re totally happy with the price and our proposal.
- How long will it take to clean my roof?
Again, this depends on the size of your roof. For a typical residential property the timescale is usually around 2-3 days.
- What if my roof requires repairs prior to being cleaned?
Before the cleaning process, we’ll also carry out any remedial work required to completely restore your roof. This might include replacing damaged tiles with like-for-like replacements, re-pointing ridge tiles or repairing chimneys.
- Can you clean and protect a roof in poor condition?
If remedial works are required to a roof, we’ll inform you of this in advance after carrying out a free, no-obligation survey. If a roof is very old or in poor structural condition it might not be practical to clean and treat it.
- Can you clean the roof on semi-detached properties?
Yes, we can clean and treat up to the start of your neighbours roof.
- If I have problems, will you come back and fix them?
Due to our experience and attention to detail, our customers rarely have any issues once their roof has been cleaned and treated. We’re happy to put you in touch with other local customers to confirm this is the case! We’ve been established for over 15 years, and we publish all of our contact details (including our address) on this website. In the unlikely event that you were to experience any problems, you’re welcome to contact us and we would of course return and rectify them.
